This summer, audiences can enjoy FREE entertainment at Piedmont Park! Horizon Theatre’s hit musical Freaky Friday will return to the stage in Piedmont Park for a limited engagement from Wednesday through Saturday, June 20-23, with all performances beginning at 7:30 p.m.Adults of all ages and families with kids are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy this upbeat musical comedy based on the modern classic novel and two popular movies. Past Horizon Theatre shows at Piedmont Park include Nobody Loves You (2017), The Toxic Avenger (2016), and Avenue Q (2015).

“It’s an honor to bring another successful musical theater production to Piedmont Park again this year,” said Lisa Adler, Horizon Theatre’s Co-Artistic/Producing Director. “As we gear up for summer nights, Freaky Friday is a fun, free activity for the community to add to their calendars. The Piedmont Park experience is unlike any other, and this entertaining, easy-going show is sure to please anyone who comes out to see its magic!”

The production is made possible through partnership with the Piedmont Park Conservancy and the vision and generosity of The Charles Loridans Foundation. Crucial additional support is provided by the Mark and Evelyn Trammell Foundation, Macy’s, The Antinori Foundation and the Kendeda Fund.

Those looking for a night of entertainment in Piedmont Park can reserve their FREE general admission tickets online now. Patrons can purchase reserved seating tickets, which are close to the stage, beginning at $15, or reserved table seating beginning at $35 ($200 for a table of six). Attendees must reserve or purchase tickets prior to performances, and tickets can only secured online at www.horizontheatre.com.

Following each performance, attendees are invited to join the Freaky Friday cast for a meet and greet, which will be located at the entrance tents where guests can conveniently stop by as they exit Piedmont Park.

Scored by the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning creative team behind Next To Normal, Freaky Friday is a heartfelt and hilarious musical comedy with rousing pop-rock harmonies and sharp choreography. In this American classic, a mom and her teen daughter, played by Abby Holland and Jennifer Alice Acker, magically swap bodies and have just one day to put things right again before mom’s big wedding. Award-winning director Heidi Cline McKerley and music director Alli Lingenfelter have teamed up to bring this modern take on the popular switcheroo tale.
