"We started working with the terrific folks at Camp Broadway LLC in 2013," says Fran Morris-Rosman, Executive Director of the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation. "Ella sang hundreds of songs from so many Broadway shows and we're thrilled to carry on her musical and charitable legacy by funding 'camperships' to Camp Broadway in Atlanta."

The First Lady of Song founded The Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation in 1993 to fulfill her desires to use the fruits of her success to help people of all races, cultures and beliefs. Ella hoped to make their lives more rewarding by fostering a love of reading and music, as well as to enable disadvantaged members of our communities to achieve a better quality of life. Ella's official 100th birthday is April 25, 1917. Learn more about her life and legacy at www.ellafitzgeraldfoundation.org.

Thanks to the generosity of The Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation, several children from Atlanta will be given the opportunity to attend Camp Broadway's signature program, Mainstage, which includes 40-hours of classes in singing, dancing and acting taught by a team of Broadway professionals from New York City. This year the program features songs and scenes from Dreamworks' Shrek the Musical Jr. The program culminates with the annual Family Finale presented at the Rialto Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Georgia State University. Founded in 1995, Camp Broadway LLC has provided scholarships to hundreds of children who could not otherwise afford to attend its summer programs through Marya's Gift, a program managed by Broadway Education Alliance, a New York based 501.c3.
