This summer, Dominion started its season with the critically acclaimed production "A Lesson Before Dying," featuring well-known actress and philanthropist, Elisabeth Omilami. This winter DEG is proud to announce the return of its hit holiday musical, Black Nativity: A Gospel Christmas Musical Experience, with Broadway actress Terry Burrell (an original member of the Dreamgirls cast) in as the central character "Pastor Bridgewater/Griot".
From November 29 - December 17, "Black Nativity: A Gospel Christmas Musical Experience," and adaption of Langston Hughes' Broadway musical, will run at the Fulton County Southwest Arts Center Performance Theater & Gallery. The hit holiday musical will be directed by Robert John Connor, with musical direction by Keith Wilson, and choreography by Dawn Axam.

Dominion's adaptation of Langston Hughes' original play is a powerful retelling of biblical character's Mary and Joseph's journey filled with glorious song, dance and sentiment and humor.
This powerful rendition of the Christmas Story fills the theatre with thrilling voices, exciting dance and glorious gospel music. Through dance, powerful worship songs and toe-tapping gospel numbers, the story of Mary and Joseph's journey is recreated in a soul-stirring musical celebration. A testament to the power of gospel music, the story of the Nativity is told through the combination of scripture, poetry, dance and song that connects a contemporary church revival to the time of the birth of Christ. This joyous evening brings the real meaning of faith and love to life for the entire family. It a power packed cast of Atlanta's best singers, dancers and actors and is a perfect holiday show for all walks of life.
"Every year, we make small changes to keep the audience guessing on what they will see. Broadway actress, Terry Burrell coming on in the central role of Pastor Bridgewater/Griot is a wonderful addition to the production. From African drums and traditional gospel hymns to the contemporary music of today, we want to welcome a variety of cultures and age groups," Connor said.
A cast of 28+ actors, singers, dancers and musicians features big names, including Terry Burrell Broadway actress and original 'Dream Girl', Q Parker from the platinum selling group 112, Latrice Pace, of the legendary gospel group The Anointed Pace Sisters and Zebulon Ellis, runner-up on the final season of BET's Sunday Best.
