Trade Santa for Sally Bowles and Cabaret. Next Stage Theatre Company presents John Kander and Fred Ebb's musical Cabaret, the Tony Award winning musical that became a hit movie at the Alley Stage in Marietta Georgia. Performances are tonight, December 14-31.
Surely there's no more drastic alternative to fuzzy-wuzzy Christmas cheer than the dark, sexy, dangerous world of Cabaret! Kander and Ebb's landmark musical trains a spotlight on the Kit Kat Club, a seedy burlesque theater in the early days of Nazi Germany. It is at the club where a young American writer, Clifford Bradshaw, meets a flighty chanteuse, Sally Bowles, and sets off a chain of events that will change their lives forever. Alicia Morton, previously listed as playing Sally Bowles, will no longer be appearing. Morton had to bow out of the show due to personal reasons. Local Atlanta actress, Sarah Peavy, will be assuming the role and performances will be presented as planned. Next Stage favorites Chris Ikner and Jordan Stovall will play Clifford and the Emcee respectively. What good is sitting alone in your room -- or with your family around the Christmas tree -- when you can come hear the music play at Cabaret?Performances are at 8pm Thursday-Saturday and 3pm on Sundays. There will be a special New Year's Eve performance Monday December 31st. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $20 for Students. All performances will be at The Alley Stage located at 11 Anderson Street in Marietta, behind the Marietta Pizza Company.
