Buckhead Art & Company Inc., has recently acquired an offering of two (2) original Joey Waldon pieces from an anonymous private collector. A prolific painter and sculptor, Waldon rarely sold his art, preferring to fill the walls of his home from floor to ceiling with his dark, yet whimsical surrealism.
The pieces that have made it into circulation were mostly to artists, comedians and musicians who Joey befriended with his unbridled blend of humor, intellect and spirituality.
"Red Derriere" is a one-of-a-kind variation on Joey's "Red Ass" series of irreverent sock monkeys. Year 1999. Price: $57,000.
"Stained Glass Butterfly" is an early representation from his butterfly series. It is painted on wood that Waldon sculpted himself. Year 2000. Price: $27,000.
These could be the only two paintings available for sale on the market today, of Joey Waldon's. Both are in mint condition and are priced to sell.
Katie Jones, owner of Buckhead Art & Company said: "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be possibly the only Art Gallery in the United States to have Joey Waldon's original art for sale."
Buckhead Art & Company, is a premier art gallery located within the Shops of Buckhead in Atlanta, Georgia.
Joey Waldon, born December 1, 1955, lost his battle with pancreatic cancer on Mothers Day, 2013. His early career was filled with success in syndicated single panel cartoons including the Texas icon Bubba 'n' Spot and commercial illustration endeavors. After discovering mind-altering substances, he began exploring the signature, beloved style that would characterize the bulk of his work.
