Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays continues club comedy performances on the square in downtown Lawrenceville with two huge shows this March. First, on March 11, Headliner Big Kenny will take the Funny Fridays Stage. Then on March 18, nationally renowned comic Sherri Sutton will be stopping by Aurora with her Taking Out the White Trash Tour. As always, Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays offers two shows nightly at 7:15 and 9:15 PM.
March 11: Headliner Big Kenney
Since his career began in 1998, Big Kenney has ignited the stage while opening for some of the nation's biggest comedy stars. Now headlining around the country, Big Kenney's unique and zesty brand of reality-based humor and storytelling is universal in appeal, and has proven to be a real crowd-pleaser. Big Kenney is a Primary Player of Atlanta's own BlackTop Circus Improv Comedy Troupe, the nation's only improvisational comedy troupe comprised of professional black comedians. Big Kenney's quick wit and funny characters draws in the audience and holds their attention.
The opening act, Debra Cole, is known in Atlanta's comedy world for her sophisticated and smart humor that's delivered with a seemingly sweet and yet surprisingly sarcastic Southern Georgia twang. She taught public school for 9 years before springing forward full-time into comedy. Don't let her alluring smile and petite stature fool you-Debra is a pistol guaranteed to push buttons and bring you laughs.
March 18: Sherri D. Sutton: Taking Out the White Trash Tour
If you put Lily Tomlin, Whoopi Goldberg, and Russell Peters in a blender, you'd get Sherri D. Sutton. Sherri talks about issues that most comics can't touch and the only time she has ever offended another group of people is when she left them out. Sherri is a U.S. comic who hails from Georgia, is currently based in Canada and tours internationally. In the tough crowds and mean streets of NYC, she honed her craft and became a staple of great Comedy Clubs such as Caroline's, Comix, The Improv, New York Comedy Club and the Boston Comedy Club to name a few. Sherri's one woman show, Don't Make Fun of Jesus, has played to sold-out crowds in New York, Atlanta, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Penang and Wales, as well as numerous private events.
