Have you ever wondered what the most fabulous story ever told was? Well, Out Front Theatre Company might just have the show for you with a show, literally, called THE MOST FABULOUS STORY EVER TOLD.
Atlanta's first and only resident LGBTQIA theatre is closing its first season with a show that recalls our favorite stories from the Old Testament with a plot twist: it's all about Adam (Ty Autry) and Steve (Brian Jordan), and a lesbian couple, Jane (Ellie Stryon) and Mabel (Jenni McCarthy). And that description just covers the first act, where you get way more than just a taste of forbidden fruit.
The show comes after Out Front made its debut in October 2016 with the Broadway hit "Priscilla, Queen of the Desert." Founder and producing artistic director Paul Conroy realized that there was not a theatre company in Atlanta that catered specifically to the LGBTQIA community. He wanted to create something that spoke to those on that spectrum and also any allies to the community, hence Out Front's mission statement.
"There is a market that is not being met and I looked at other cities and realized that this did not make sense," said Conroy. "And that is how this place got started."
"Priscilla" had a sold-out run followed by the Southeastern premiere of "A Kid Like Jake." The company's 2017/2018 season was recently announced to include "The Rocky Horror Show," "The Mystery of Love and Sex," "Buyer & Cellar" and "Sordid Lives."
THE MOST FABULOUS SHOW EVER TOLD is running from April 24 - May 14, with shows on Thursdays - Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Ticket prices are $15 for children, $20 for students and seniors and $25 for adults. Tickets may be purchased by calling 404-448-2755 or online. Out Front Theatre Company is located at 999 Brady Ave., Ste. 10, Atlanta, Georgia 30318.
