Founded at the University of Georgia, Brawl for a Cause is thrilled to announce the return of its marquee event in the city of Atlanta, Buckhead Brawl. The event invites amateur boxers to fight for what they believe in by enabling fighters to raise money and awareness for their causes.
Hosted by comedian, Ronndell Smith and the founder of Witty and Pretty and Bros Being Basic, Ashley Hesseltine, the night will feature charity boxing bouts, casino games and open bar. This year's featured DJ is the Grammy award-winning DJ Babey Drew. The main event will be a bout between one fighter representing Susan G. Komen and the other fighting for City of Refuge with a fundraising pot of over $50,000.
Each participant of the 10 amateur boxing matches will raise money with their competitor for their personally selected cause by encouraging friends and family to donate to their bout's "Brawl Bucket." On the night of the event, the boxer who wins their bout will win the majority share of this bucket, while the losing fighter still takes home a portion to support their cause, ensuring 20 charities across Atlanta and beyond will benefit from this event.
Past Brawl for a Cause events have sold-out venues like the Georgia Theatre in Athens, Ga. and have attracted professional athletes like Aaron Murray, Arthur Lynch and Kyle Farmer as hosts. The for-purpose organization is expanding its "philanthrotainment" model to cities all over the United States including Boston, Austin and New Orleans, but is deeply proud of their first Atlanta venture.
Matt Thomas, Brawl for a Cause Founder, states, "Atlanta is my home. It's where I grew up and now hope to be able to watch my company grow. It is vital that I give back to this community that has meant so much to me and I hope Buckhead Brawl can become a tradition to do just that."
