Aurora Theatre will host Free PLAY Day, a one-day FREE acting workshop as part of their community outreach through the Aurora Theatre Academy on Saturday, March 14 from 11:30 a.m.- 4 p.m. During the day, students will be introduced to improvisation, team building and acting technique through various theatre games and exercises, as well as receive complimentary lunch generously provided by Aurora's Volunteer Guild. Free PLAY Day is open to students from kindergarten through 12th grade. In an effort to thank the community, Free PLAY Day is a way for both the theatre and artists to give back, especially to those who may not have access or means for experiences like this.

Aurora Theatre, being the only professional theatre in Gwinnett County, is the ideal place for people to study the arts. What distinguishes Aurora Theatre Academy from other programs is that students have the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a world-class venue, and the instructors are working professionals with years of real-world theatrical experience. In addition to receiving training to be a winner onstage, students build confidence, improve communication and learn life skills that will be a valuable part of their bright futures.

"I am always asking myself how we can give more back to our community," said Aurora Theatre Director of Education Jaclyn Hofmann. After discussion with co-founders Anthony Rodriguez and Ann-Carol Pence about creating better community engagement, Aurora Theatre created what is now called Free PLAY Day. "Students in Gwinnet are hungry for arts education, and this program is a great way to reach those students whose families simply cannot afford it."

Applications will be evaluated based on financial need, short essay question and in order of receipt. Space is limited, so apply today!
