Aurora Theatre's Funny Fridays club comedy performances on the square in downtown Lawrenceville offers an expanded schedule this season, with the introduction of Funny Fridays: Saturday Edition. Headliner for our August edition weekend of stand-up comedy will be Jarrod Harris. Over 20 million people have seen Jarrod's popular Action Figure Therapy characters and most recently the series was named LA Weekly's "Top Comic To Watch in 2012.″ Also appearing will be the host of Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays, comedienne Debra Cole along with two strapping bearded comics, Paul Gallois and Matt Pharr. It will be an amazing weekend of comedy in the Aurora Studio Theatre August 17-18 at 7:15 PM & 9:15 PM.
About The Comedians
Atlanta native and national touring comic, Jarrod Harris has been seen on Live at Gotham on Comedy Central and Lopez Tonight on TBS. Campus Activities Magazine named him as one of the "Hot Comics of 2009" and "Top Comics to Watch in 2010." In 2009 Jarrod made it to the final four at the prestigious San Francisco Comedy Competition, in 2010 was part of Detroit Comedy Festival's "Best of Fest" and served as host of the 2010 and 2011 Laughing Skull Festival. Jarrod spends his time in Los Angles and is a regular performer at independent shows as well as venues like the Improv, Comedy Store and the Laugh Factory. In 2010 he had the pleasure of hosting a Comedy Death Ray show at the Upright Citizen's Brigade Theatre in Hollywood.
"Atlanta's own Jarrod Harris' act is an oddly comfortable mix of trailer-park filth, comic angst and hipster irony. While his style may fit into several categories along the comedy spectrum, his clever writing only fits into one: funny." -Creative Loafing.
Debra Cole, host of Aurora Theatre Funny Fridays since this past January, is known to Atlanta comedy enthusiasts for her wry humor and rapid-fire style.
Paul Gallois is a strong comedic embodiment of Everyman, a deceptively hilarious story-teller with a self-deprecating style that requests no pity.
Matt Pharr has recently made the leap to full-time comic and looks forward to the lifetime of Ramen Noodles that await him.
