The MGM movie musical Singin' in the Rain is considered the greatest movie musical of all time. In fact, it continues to top the American Film Institute's 100 Years of Musicals list. This classic was not even a stage production until 1985, when technology allowed for the famous title number to be performed live on a Broadway stage with actual rain. Now, it is with great pride that Aurora Theatre sets the tone for our ambitious 15th Anniversary Season with this theatrical spectacle. In Singin' in the Rain, the year is 1927 and Hollywood is in a panic over the transition from silent films to "talking pictures." Enter leading man, Don Lockwood, who falls hard for chorus girl, Kathy Selden. But Don's leading lady, Lina Lamont, is none too happy about the budding romance. You won't want to miss this delightful romantic comedy with elaborate musical numbers and timeless melodies like: Fit As A Fiddle, Good Mornin' and Make ‘Em Laugh. And did we mention it RAINS?

Aurora's production features leading man Justin Tanner (Disney's Aladdin - ALLIANCE THEATRE, Damn Yankees - Aurora Theatre) as Don Lockwood the role made famous by Gene Kelly. Taking on the role of his love interest, Kathy Selden, is the adorable Leslie Bellair (Disney's Mulan- ALLIANCE THEATRE). Don's best friend and funnyman CosMo Brown will be played by Jeremy Wood (A Catered Affair - Aurora Theatre, Grease - International Tour), while his jealous leading lady Lina is portrayed by Broadway actor Pamela Gold (How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying - Broadway revival opposite Matthew Broderick) making her Aurora debut. Aurora Theatre Producing Artistic Director Anthony Rodriguez assumes the role of studio head R.F. Simpson, a part his real-life producer skills will only enhance.

Producer Quote
Anthony Rodriguez, Producing Artistic Director of Aurora Theatre, "On our stage, audiences have seen everything from a coffin rising from underground to a meal cooked before their eyes. Now, they will get a chance to see it rain. When I consider our history, I am amazed by our ability to inspire such great passion for theatre in Gwinnett. The key has been our ability to expand into an incredible facility. We can't wait to create the next 15 years of memories."
