Aurora Theater Hosts Book Signing W/ 3 Local Authors 3/31

On March 31 at 7:00pm, Aurora Theatre will host a book signing by three authors who have written three very different books. All are exceptional writers and most importantly, all the authors are local. The event was originally conceived by one of Gwinnett's most prominent citizens and one of the authors. Elliott Brack has put together the comprehensive resource on local history called Gwinnett A Little Above Atlanta. The other homegrown talents are Tom Stratton who's Sea Birds, When Sea Birds Fly To Land is a beautifully crafted story set in the Virgin Islands, and David Leon Brown is a modern-day Nostradamus. His Shattering the Myths is about a black man becoming President of the United States in 2008...13 YEARS BEFORE IT HAPEENED. All of the authors will read a selection from their books, take questions and be available to sign copies of their work. The books will be for sale at the event, and all can currently be purchased online. Join the authors in the lobby before the event where McCray's Tavern on the Square will have appetizers and a full bar available for patrons.

About the Authors
Elliott Brack, Gwinnett A Little Above Atlanta
Elliott Brack is a veteran Georgia newspaperman who has lived in Gwinnett since 1974. While in Gwinnett, he has known and interviewed many of the key figures of the county, and he calls upon this experience in writing a modern history hardback book about the county, Gwinnett A Little Above Atlanta. He now publishes GwinnettForum online, and also GeorgiaClips, a statewide daily news summary.

Mr. Brack grew up in Macon, where he met his wife, Barbara. They live in Norcross and have three children and two granddaughters. He is a graduate of Mercer University and has a master's degree from the University of Iowa.

Tom Stratton, Sea Birds, When Sea Birds Fly To Land

Tom Stratton lives in Snellville. He's a retired traveling representative of a firm which produced seats for stadiums, particularly baseball stadiums. He's traveled far and wide in his job, and at night in hotels and motels, he would work on his novel.

Sea Birds, When Sea Birds Fly To Land is set in the Virgin Islands. This beautiful piece weaves the story of an unspoiled island, what some people want to do with the island, and the heartwarming outcome. Mr. Stratton says that the book is based on stories learned over years of traveling and from the study of family ties. It is a fast, fun read at only 124 pages.

David Leon Brown, Shattering the Myths

David Leon Brown of Stone Mountain grew up in Clermont, FL but has lived in Gwinnett since retiring from the Army 10 years ago; he was an instructor of Army medics.

Shattering the Myths is the fictional account of a man named Luther Taliaferro Thompson. The book takes a young man from his native New York all the way to the presidency of the United States. What makes this book so remarkable is how much of the "fiction" has become reality. Here are some of the coincidences between the lead character in this 1995 novel and our current president: both are African-American, graduates of Harvard Law School, with limited political experience whose candidacy transforms the American political process and were elected in the year 2008.
