Aurora Children's Playhouse Set for Saturday Mornings Throughout School Year

Aurora Theatre assembles the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County for the series Aurora Children's Playhouse. Beginning this August and running through the school year in segments corresponding with Aurora Theatre's main stage programing, families will find a tremendous variety of performances, with more shows than ever before including many exciting new performers as well as returning audience favorites.

In honor of the epic season opener in the Brand Signature Series, LES MISERABLES, Aurora keeps the French theme going. Théâtre du Rêve, Atlanta's unique French-language theatre company will open the season of children's performances on August 17 at 10am with the delightful Fables Fantastiques!. Discover the fantastic world of fables in this exciting adaptation of fables from Aesop, La Fontaine and West Africa designed to be enjoyed by one and all. This bilingual original production is brought to life through physical theatre, storytelling and most importantly audience interaction. Vive la Children's Playhouse!

On August 24, one of Atlanta's best storytellers returns to Aurora Theatre with his newest program, Hot Diggity Doug. Doug is a dignified and doggedly diligent do-gooder, with the aid of his daring dog Digger, he digs down deep into some classic and popular tales. They'll dig a hole to the other side of the world, explore McElligot's Pool, help Moonbear escape his shadow, and root on Mike Mulligan and his Steam Shovel, not to mention marvel at an odd fellow who has a notion to dig a hole in the ceiling! There'll be loads of participation, spectacle, surprises, whimsy and wordplay--all perfectly pitched to help young children excavate enjoyment and delight.

After making an impressive debut at Aurora Theatre this summer Big Thinkers Science Exploration is back with more science fun on August 31. Beat the summer heat with Freeze Frame, Big Thinkers' chilling look into the world of dry ice. Audiences will discover what dry ice is and how it behaves; create huge plumes of foggy carbon dioxide and much more. Children will get to explore the effects of carbonation with the Big Thinkers Soda Pop and even catch dry ice bubbles in their hands... or on their head. Don't miss this COOL show!

Aurora Children's Playhouse features puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children's Playhouse performances are held on select Saturday mornings at 10AM unless otherwise noted.
