Aurora Theatre announced a Day Children’s Concert with The BorderCollies on March 17 at 10 AM. This "talented band of minstrels is one of the most beloved Celtic bands in the southeast and they will perform a high energy children's concert with a contagious Irish flare. This St. Patrick's Day treat will be packed full of music, heritage and audience participation. There will even be an instrument "petting zoo" to give children a hands-on experience. Be sure to wear green!"

That Puppet Guy, Lee Bryan, returns to Aurora Children's Playhouse on March 24 at 10 AM with his hit show Pinocchio! Recycled thrift store items are given new life in this fantastic, frenetic retelling based on the Collodi classic text. Found-object puppet characters are constructed from various recycled things like kitchen utensils, baskets and tennis rackets. This technique will spark your child’s imagination and promote recycling and reuse of unwanted items. In addition to the found-object puppets, this original one-man "tour de farce" combines authentic Italian music, Commedia-style mask work and plenty of audience participation. View a clip here.

This Easter weekend bring the entire family out to a wonderful show on April 7 at 10 AM, Latin American Folktales performed by Cuban-American storyteller Tersi Bendiburg. A life-long storyteller Tersi punctuates stories from Latin America, Spain and Portugal with authentic instruments such as the kalimba, thumb piano, castanets, maracas and more. Families will experience the culture and traditions of our neighbors south of the border through songs, folktales and a visit from Spinach, Tersi’s pet llama.

Aurora Children’s Playhouse features the regions top children’s performers, including: puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children’s Playhouse performances are held on select Saturday mornings at 10AM unless otherwise noted.

Programming in Aurora Theatre’s 2011-2012 Aurora Children’s Playhouse is possible through generous support from Metro Waterproofing and the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund.
