Aurora Theatre assembles the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County for the series Aurora Children's Playhouse. This October, Aurora Children's Playhouse will offer a Spooktactular lineup of family entertainment with plenty of action, thrills and surprises.

Throughout the month of October, school groups will come to Aurora Theatre on weekday mornings for a live performance of the greatest legend of English folklore, Robin Hood. The only public performance of this action-packed tale is Saturday, October 13. Follow this heroic outlaw and his memorable band of merry men as they fend off the unjust tyranny of the Sheriff of Nottingham in Sherwood Forest. Kids will love the fast?paced, swordfight-fueled adventure told with a clever, quick wit coming to life right before their eyes. Robin Hood will certainly take from the rich and give to the poor, but he might just tickle your funny bone as well. The adaptation is by playwright Greg Banks, the production is directed Aurora Theatre's Director of Education Jaclyn Hofmann and the cast includes: Ben Toler, Kelly Criss, Tony Larkin, Matt Nitchie, Michael Tarver and Alex West.

On October 20, Aurora favorite Quite a Catch returns with a juggling and stunt show for a contemporary audience called, The Juggler Bieber Show. Unassuming and hilarious, the talented Ron Anglin, a former Army pilot and high school teacher, has taken his act all over the country delighting young and old with his juggling feats and comedy. Ron is also a proud member of the Big Apple Clown Care Unit that entertains patients in children's hospitals. His performances incorporate science, geography, character traits and reading. But like cheese sauce on broccoli, these lessons are illustrated by ball juggling and bouncing, club juggling, box manipulation, plate spinning, Chinese yo-yos, rhythm sticks, dice stacking, soap bubble tricks, Shaker cups, a balance board, a unicycle, the Japanese kendama, and old school rapping.

In what has become an Aurora Children's Playhouse holiday tradition, the Halloween Magic Show returns for its fourth year with Atlanta magician Arthur Atsma the Saturday before Halloween, October 27. Arthur Atsma will amaze and amuse folks of all ages with a show filled with captivating sleight-of-hand magic, audience interaction and comedy. It's not necessarily magic, but Arthur Atsma has a way of making tickets disappear, therefore reservations are strongly recommended for this popular performance.

Aurora Children's Playhouse features puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children's Playhouse performances are held on select Saturday mornings at 10AM unless otherwise noted.

Programming in Aurora Theatre's 2012-2013 Aurora Children's Playhouse is possible through generous support from Metro Waterproofing and the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund.
