Aurora Theatre has assembled the best children's performers in the region, bringing them to Gwinnett County in order to give parents and their children a chance to experience their artistry in our amazing facility in downtown Lawrenceville.

As the weather cools, parents are looking for more indoor activities for the family and Aurora Children's Playhouse boasts an impressive slate of performances this October. Beginning on October 16, join Georgia Shakespeare's Will Power Ensemble as they present The Legend of the Sword in the Stone. Magic and mischief abound in this adaptation of the classic tale of young King Arthur and his friendship with the wizard Merlin. Youngsters will be delighted by this electrifying production complimented by exceptional production values.

On October 23, Aurora Theatre welcomes Cuban-born Tersi Bendiburg for a timely performance of her original program, Day of the Dead: A Scary Name for a Beautiful Celebration. Great storytelling is a family tradition for Tersi Bendiburg as her sister is none other than Carmen Agra Deedy, the award-winning writer, storyteller and author of The Library Dragon produced last year by Aurora and seen by over 6,000 local school children. Day of the Dead: A Scary Name for a Beautiful Celebration tells how this Mexican holiday of celebration and remembrance reflects the values and customs of the two very different cultures of Europe and the Aztecs. Children will be encouraged to participate by bringing a photograph, personal item or even a short memory of a family member or pet that has passed away.  In what is becoming an Aurora Children's Playhouse holiday tradition, the Halloween Magic Show with Atlanta magician Arthur Atsma will be presented on Halloween eve, October 30.  Arthur Atsma will amaze and amuse folks of all ages with a show filled with captivating sleight of hand magic, audience interaction and comedy. It's not necessarily magic, but Arthur Atsma has a way of making tickets disappear, therefore reservations are strongly recommended for this popular performance.

The Aurora Children's Playhouse series features: puppeteers, magicians, storytellers, jugglers and musicians intended for youngsters to have their first theatrical experiences. At about 45 minutes in length, perfect for the young attention span, these lively performances are fun for the whole family. Aurora Children's Playhouse performances are held on select Saturday mornings at 10AM unless otherwise noted.
