Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Announces March Programming

March with the GRAMMY Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will begin with conductor Marc Piollet leading the Orchestra in Brahms' Symphony No. 4 and Sibelius' Violin Concerto performed by violin virtuoso Augustin Hadelich on March 3 and 5, 2016, 8:00 p.m., Atlanta Symphony Hall.

The Family Series returns on March 5, 2016, 9:30 and 11:30 a.m., with Music for the Very Young. The program is designed for early learners between the ages of 3 and 5 and their families. The program features an engaging, interactive musical journey alongside Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians Jay Christy, Sanford Salzinger, Jessica Oudin and Brad Ritchie, at the Woodruff Memorial Arts Buidling.

Under the baton of Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra Music Director Joseph Young, the talented young artists of the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra will perform in the Crescendo Concert on March 13, 2016, 3:00 p.m., at Atlanta Symphony Hall. The Youth Orchestra will perform John Adams' Chairman Dances and excerpts from Puccini's La bohème.

On March 18 and 19, 2016, 8:00 p.m., Principal Pops Conductor Michael Krajewski will lead a tribute to one of the most prolific songwriters of her generation, Carole King, featuring Broadway star Liz Callaway.

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra will celebrate the life and legacy of the late Robert Shaw on March 10 and 12, 2016, 8:00 p.m. Director of Choruses Norman Mackenzie will lead the Orchestra, Chorus and Chamber Chorus in this memorable tribute featuring the music of Mozart, Brahms, Mendelssohn and much more.

On March 20, 2016, 3:00 p.m., Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Assistant Conductor Joseph Young will lead Musical Story Time with the ASO, featuring favorites from the most exciting musical stories of all time, including Huckleberry Finn from Mississippi Suite, Empress of the Pagodas from the Mother Goose Suite and the retelling of a West African tale made famous by a children's book, "Anansi and the Moss-Covered Rock."

The month concludes with conductor Thomas Søndergård returning to Symphony Hall to conduct Debussy's La Mer. He will be joined by Alexandre Tharaud in his Atlanta Symphony Orchestra debut, performing Ravel's Piano Concerto for the Left Hand on March 31 and April 2, 2016, 8:00 p.m.
