Atlanta Opera Presents AIDA, 2/27-3/7

The Atlanta Opera will present Guiseppe Verdi's AIDA at the Cobb Energy Centre on Saturday February 27, Tuesday March 2, Friday March 5, and Sunday March 7.

The Egyptian princess Amneris intends to marry Radames, the next leader of the Egyptian Army. But Radames is in love with Aida, an Ethiopian princess who is an enslaved prisoner of war. When Amneris discovers her competition, she stops at nothing to destroy them both. Verdi's triumphant opera will feature a star-studded cast, including baritone Mark Delavan and new international phenom Antonello Palombi.

The production will be sung in Italian with English supertitles and will run approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes plus two intermissions.

All Recordings are used with permission from Universal Music. It is written and narrated by Eric Mitchko with Sarah Zaslaw as recording engineer.

The cast features Mary Elizabeth Williams as Aida, Elizabeth Bishop as Amneris, antonello Palombi as Radames, Mark Delavan as Amonasro, Morris Robinsonas Ramfis, and Kenneth Kellogg as King.

Yoel Levi will conduct with direction from Trevore Ross and set design by Phil Silver. A.T. Jones is the costume designer, Donald Thomas is the lighting designer, and Walter Huff is the chorus master.
