Atlanta Lyric Theatre presents the Atlanta premiere of THE IT GIRL, a new musical saluting the roaring 20's and the silver screen March 6 through 22, 2009 at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre, Home of Atlanta Lyric Theatre (117 N. Park Sq., Marietta).

Under the leadership of Artistic Director and General Manager Brandt Blocker, Atlanta Lyric Theatre continues its 29th season at the Strand Theatre with THE IT GIRL, a new musical based on the Paramount Motion Picture IT, with a book by Michael Small and BT McNicholl, music by Paul McKibbins and lyrics by BT McNicholl.

THE IT GIRL is a Jazz Age Cinderella musical based on IT, the 1927 film that made Clara Bow a star. In this affectionate homage to the period's innocence, a poor but adorable showgirl falls for the dashing head of a department store and madcap merriment ensues as she captures his heart and the heart of all New York. THE IT GIRL is a funny, sweet and joyous salute to an era when the music was colorful, right and wrong were black and white, and the girl who had "IT" had it all.

The cast of THE IT GIRL features Claci Miller (B'Way: Annie Get Your Gun, Atlanta: Little Shop of Horrors, The Great American Trailer Park Musical) in the title role, Mike Masters (National Tour: White Christmas, Off- B'Way: The Happy Time, Atlanta: A Christmas Carol, Smoke on the Mountain), Ashley Hughson (National Tour: Alice in Wonderland, Pennsylvania: The Sound of Music), Bethany Irby (Atlanta: Big River, Broadway Christmas Carol), Jeff Juday (Off-B'Way: I Sing, Atlanta: Little Shop of Horrors, Five Course Love, ), Marcie Millard (Atlanta: Santaland Diaries, Cinderella Confidential ) and Brett Parker (Atlanta: Smokey Joe's Café, Beauty and the Beast). The show is directed by Alan Kilpatrick, with musical direction by Brandt Blocker, set design by Drew Monahan, costume design by Clint Horne, and lighting design by Bradley Bergeron.

Performances of THE IT GIRL begin March 6 and run through March 22. Performances are at 8:00PM with matinees on Sundays at 2:00PM at the Earl Smith Strand Theatre (117 N. Park Sq., Marietta). Tickets are $30-35, on sale now at www.atlantalyrictheatre.com, or by calling 404-377-9948.
