Who doesn't enjoy romance, laughter, and murder? The Academy Theatre is bringing all three to the stage with Murder at the Howard Johnson's by Ron Clark and Sam Bobrick. This show is a lighthearted, fast-paced suspense comedy directed by Rob Raissle.
In three acts, various couplings of a romantic triangle between airheaded Arlene Miller, her husband the car salesman Paul Miller, and her lover - the family dentist Dr. Mitchell Lovell, contemplate a series of murderous schemes. All three acts are set in the same room at a Howard Johnson's motel. With its many twists and turns during the mixed up mayem audiences will laugh all night.
Arlene, played by Kay Bohan, who was last seen in Academy's Steel Magnolias, says, "I'm so glad to be back at the Academy, working on one of my favorite comedies!" Paul is played by Andres Salgado, making his Academy premiere. The skirt-chasing dentist is played by Jeff Cooper.
Robert Drake, Artistic Director of Academy Theatre, adds, ""The laughs come so quickly in this show! It's a great to have the talent who will make things snap!""
Murder at the Howard Johnson's is great fun. It is gloriously goofy. Grab a glass of wine and enjoy a night of relentlessly hysterical comedy. You won't be disappointed.
