STAGE DOOR PLAYERS launches into their Sapphire Season of Celebration with the US premiere of Canadian comedy writer Michael G. Wilmot's A RED PLAID SHIRT. Harleys, hypochondria, and hijinks ensue in this heart-warming comedy as it follows the journey of two friends (played by Steve Hudson and recent Woodie Award Winner Michael Strauss) navigating the unfamiliar territory of retirement with the help of their wives (played by Suzanne Roush and Eileen Freid Koteles). Stage Door's Artistic Director, Robert Egizio, directs this Celebration of Friendship with an eye towards a true audience connection.
"Every season I am always on the look out for something new. When A Red Plaid Shirt was submitted to me, I not only enjoyed reading the play myself, I knew it would be something my audiences could identify with. That time in your life when one chapter is over and you are not sure what the next step is. The search to find a new adventure and discovering who it is you want to spend it with. And it's just a funny play."
The show opens on Friday, September 21, 2018 and runs through Sunday, October 14, 2018. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2:30 pm. Single tickets are on sale now at the box office (770-396-1726), or online at www.stagedoorplayers.net. Tickets are $33; senior, student, and youth discounts are available.
Two old friends fill the void left by retirement in different ways; Marty decides he wants to explore the open road on a Harley while Fred decides to pay more attention to his health, inventing many new ailments along the way. With a little "subtle redirection" from their wives and a creative solution to a very unusual problem they find the right track... eventually.
