A CHORUS LINE Closes at Aurora Theatre 9/4

Aurora Theatre will present the final performance of the longest-running American Broadway musical ever, A CHORUS LINE, on September 4, 2011. A Chorus Line will be the largest musical in Aurora Theatre history with 26 actors and a live band. The performances will explode into the intimate 250-seat auditorium, truly making the audience feel like they are a part of the experience.

America's fascination with the pain and exhilaration of an audition is nothing new. Before American Idol and So You Think You Can Dance, Michael Bennett and his team of artists, through countless hours of recorded conversations, improvisation and development, created the work that would inspire these types of shows and many others. A Chorus Line is an unconventionally personal audition portrayed live onstage in real time. Feel the drama of these dancers who convey the hope and pain of what they do for love, putting everything on the line to fulfill their dream of winning a role in a Broadway musical. Crossing the line between Broadway and the pop charts, A Chorus Line contains many iconic melodies, including; What I Did for Love, At the Ballet and One! (Singular Sensation).

About the Aurora Theatre Production
A formidable company of talent has been put together by Aurora Theatre for this very demanding production. As Cassie, a dancer looking for her last shot, Pamela Gold (How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying - Broadway revival opposite Matthew Broderick) returns to Aurora after being featured as Lina Lamont in Singin' in the Rain. Also featured are New York actors Brance Cornelius (National tour: How the Grinch Stole Christmas) as song and dance man Mike Costa and David Rossetti (National Tours: Hairspray and Fame & Kiss Me, Kate, Aurora Theatre) as the troubled and talented Paul. As the demanding director Zach is Aurora Producing Artistic Director Anthony Rodriguez. Other Aurora favorites in the company are Leslie Bellair (Singin' in the Rain-Aurora Theatre, Avenue Q - Horizon Theatre), Ricardo Aponte (Christmas Canteen- Aurora Theatre, The Buddy Holly Story - Georgia Ensemble) and Nicole Dramis (Singin' in the Rain & Over the River and Through the Woods -Aurora Theatre). Director Anne Towns, Choreographer Jen MacQueen and Aurora Associate Producer & Resident Music Director Ann-Carol Pence are the same talented creative team from last season's smash hit, Singin' in the Rain.

Personal reasons help inspire Anthony Rodriguez, Producing Artistic Director of Aurora Theatre to select A Chorus Line, "While I was a student at UGA, I got the opportunity to play Al in Hilton Head's Production of in A Chorus Line. I can remember, I was propelled by the promise of a budding career as a performer. Now as Zach, I want the audience to feel what it is like to be a part of an actual audition." He goes on to mention the scope of the production, "With a company of actors that is 10% of the capacity of your audience; this would be like seeing a show at the Fox Theatre with a cast of over 500."
