A backstage view of the August 7th concert Flopz is currently up for auction on eBay; the winner will be able to mingle with its stars and possibly appear onstage.
Billed as a concert "celebrating great songs from egregiously overlooked musicals," Flopz will be held at 7:30 at Joe's Pub at The Public Theatre (425 Lafayette St.). Benefiting Joey DiPaolo AIDS Foundation and this year's World AIDS Day concert of Marsha Norman and Lucy Simon's The Secret Garden (to be held on Dec. 5th), Flopz "will
feature songs you might have heard and songs you probably haven't from
some of Broadway's most notorious blunders." An array of Broadway stars have been scheduled to appear in the concert, which will feature musical direction by Michael Lavine and will be produced and directed by Jamie McGonnigal (Pippin, Snoopy! and Children of Eden concerts). Lined up to sing the lesser-known gems are Matt Cavenaugh (Urban Cowboy), Jenn Colella (Urban Cowboy), Deborah S. Craig (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Tony Award-Nominee Celia Keenan-Bolger (25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Tracy Jai Edwards (Hairspray), Jenn Gambatese (All Shook Up), Sara Gettelfinger (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), Danny Gurwin (Little Women), Tyler Haynes (Sweet Charity), Tony Award-Winner Cady Huffman (The Producers), Natalie Joy Johnson (Bare), Leslie Kritzer (Hairspray), Emily Skinner (Side Show) and several others. An after-party at Joe's Pub will immediately follow the concert. Dozens of
prizes will be raffled off over the course of the evening including
show tickets, autographed memorabilia and once-in-a-lifetime
opportunities. There is no cover for the party, but a portion of the
bar will also be donated to The Joey DiPaolo AIDS Foundation.
Tickets for Flopz, which are $20, are available at the Public Theater box office or through Telecharge: www.telecharge.com or 212.239.6200.> To bid on the chance to see Flopz from backstage, visit the following link.
