d'Arcy James, Kudisch and Charles Join The Apple Tree

Brian D'Arcy James, Marc Kudisch and Walter Charles have been announced to join Kristin Chenoweth in the Roundabout's new production of The Apple Tree, with music by Jerry Bock, lyrics by Sheldon Harnick, book by Bock and Harnick, and directed by Gary Griffin, at Studio 54 on Broadway (254 West 54th Street).

The Apple Tree will begin previews Tuesday, November 28th, 2006 and open officially on Thursday, December 14th, 2006.   This is a limited engagement through Sunday, March 11th, 2007.

The Apple Tree will feature choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler and musical supervision by Rob Fisher.

"From the songwriting team of She Loves Me and Fiddler On The Roof comes a unique evening of three one-act musicals about men, women and a little thing called temptation.  The Apple Tree is based on "The Diary of Adam and Eve" by Mark Twain; "The Lady or the Tiger?" by Frank R. Stockton; and "Passionella" by Jules Feiffer, with additional book material by Jerome Coopersmith," state press notes.

The Apple Tree creative team includes Andy Blankenbuehler (Choreography), Rob Fisher (Musical Direction & Vocal/Dance Arrangements), Jonathan Tunick (Orchestrations), John Lee Beatty (Sets), Jess Goldstein (Costumes), Donald Holder (Lights), Dan Moses Schreier (Sound) and Charles LaPointe (Hair & Wigs). 

The company of The Apple Tree will also feature Meggie Nicole Cansler, Julie Connors, Sarah Jane Everman, Jennifer Taylor Farrell, Justin Keyes, Lorin Latarro, Mike McGowan, Sean Palmer, Dennis Stowe and Eric Santagata.

The Apple Tree
premiered on Broadway on October 18th, 1966 at the Shubert Theatre starring Alan Alda and Barbara Harris, directed by Mike Nichols.

The production is based on the acclaimed 2005 New York City Center Encores! revival of The Apple Tree staring Chenoweth and directed by Griffin.  Visit www.NYCityCenter.org for more information.

The Apple Tree will play Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 8:00PM with a Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday matinee at 2:00PM.
