Zohrn's Permanent Whole Life Runs at FringeNYC in Aug.

Zayd Dohrn's Permanent Whole Life, presented by The Alchemy Theatre Company of Manhattan, Inc., will be presented as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.  The show will run from August 11th through August 26th at the Classic Stage Company, 136 East 13th Street (between 3rd & 4th Avenues). 

The new black comedy will be directed by Wesley Savick, with set design by Richard Wadsworth Chambers.  The cast will include Ken Baltin, Stacy Fischer, Robert Kropf and Lisa Morse.               

"Permanent Whole Life concerns an unprincipled life insurance investigator in Palm Beach who seduces a young widow fresh from the funeral home. Florida is no place for the living in this savage comedy about sex, death, and the relationships that outlast us," state press notes.  The show is a IRNE Award-Winner for Best New Play, 2005.

Dohrn's first play, Shameless, premiered at the Boston Actors Workshop. The Boston Globe named it one of 2002's "Critic's Picks." In addition to numerous professional readings, his plays have received productions at the Producers Club, Boston Director's Lab, and Boston Playwrights Theatre, where Haymarket was nominated for seven IRNE awards and Permanent Whole Life received its world premiere this year.

The Alchemy Theatre Company Of Manhattan, Inc. exists to produce vivid theatrical productions, devoted to visceral storytelling of contemporary, classical, and new works, and a collaborative approach to artistry, which will resonate with a diverse New York audience.  Two of the past acclaimed productions of ATCNY have been the first NYC productions of Speed The Plow and The Normal Heart after their original New York premieres.
