The Ziegfeld Society will present Tony Award winning Broadway Conductor Donald Pippin in A MAESTRO'S MEMOIRS on Saturday, May 17th, a multi-media presentation of his life in the theatre.

A Broadway presence for over half a century, Don Pippin has worked on some of the greatest hits in musical theatre history as a conductor, music director, arranger, and songwriter, including A CHORUS LINE, MAME, MACK & MABEL, SEESAW, APPLAUSE, CABARET [1987 revival], JERRY'S GIRLS, LA CAGE AUX FOLLES, WOMAN OF THE YEAR, 110 IN THE SHADE, OLIVER!

Mr. Pippin's numerous accolades include a Tony Award for OLIVER!, a Drama Desk Special Award, and an Emmy Award. Also an accomplished pianist, Mr. Pippin has accompanied such legendary entertainers as Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Julie Andrews, Anne Hampton Callaway, Alfred Drake, Chita Rivera, Angela Lansbury, Marilyn Horne and Debbie Voight. He currently appears as Guest Conductor for Symphony Orchestras around the country, and was also Musical Director at Radio City Music Hall.

Guest starring with Mr. Pippin are Klea Blackhurst (HELLO DOLLY! At Goodspeed, The Peccadillo Theatre's revival of A TREE GROWS IN BROOKLYN, JERRY HERMAN'S BROADWAY at The London Palladium) and Nat Chandler [THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, Encores' THE ZIEGFELD FOLLIES OF 1936).

The Ziegfeld Society is a non-profit organization founded by Mark York (Pianist & Co-arranger for The Roundabout's JUST JIM DALE) and Lucy Kerman in 2009 and named for legendary Broadway producer Florenz Ziegfeld, best known for his annual ZIEGFELD FOLLIES and the original production of SHOW BOAT. The Society aspires to enlighten, entertain and educate current as well as future generations of theatergoers and young artists about the legendary performers, songwriters and creators of our musical theater heritage from the early decades of the 20th century, through Broadway's Golden Age and beyond. The Ziegfeld Society presents intimate monthly performances featuring award winning Broadway performers performing alongside young up and coming artists, presentations by authors, and screenings of lost film and television musicals at The Paley Center followed by seminars with the stars, most recently THE HELEN MORGAN STORY starring Polly Bergen, moderated by Rex Reed. Past productions have featured performers including Tony nominees Anita Gillette, Penny Fuller, Carol Lawrence, Jane Summerhays, Walter Willison, and Sarah Rice, Loria Parker, Carolyn Quinn (author of "Mama Rose's Turn"). The Society also provides outreach programs for both students and senior citizens.

DONALD PIPPIN: A MAESTRO'S MEMOIRS will be presented at 4pm on May 17, 2014 at Lang Recital Hall at Hunter College, 695 Park Avenue (enter at 69th Street).
