Broadway and cabaret star Yvonne Constant will return to Danny's Skylight Room on November 8th at 7 PM with her show "La Chanson Realiste: Paris in the Twenties." The evening will feature musical direction by Russ Kassoff.
"Constant will sing love songs popular in France between the World Wars. Some of these songs were initially sung by Marlene Dietrich, Mistinguett, and Josephine Baker, and later reprised in America by Louis Armstrong, Louis Prima, Bing Crosby and Fanny Brice, among others. The program will consist of songs in both French and English."
Yvonne Constant came to America from Paris with the cast of
La Plume de Ma Tante, winning a Tony Award for her first featured role on Broadway. She also appeared on Broadway in
No Strings and
The Gay Life, and "became one of Johnny Carson's favorite guests with a record 45 guest appearances on 'The Tonight Show.'"
Musical director Russ Kassoff has worked with Frank Sinatra,
Liza Minnelli, Charles Aznavour, Rita Moreno,
Debbie Gravitte,
John Pizzarelli,
Paul Anka, Tony Bennett, and many others. A popular jazz pianist, his first CD"Somewhere" debuted this fall.
Danny's Skylight Room is located at 346 West 46th Street. Performances will be: November 8th at 7, November 9th at 9:15, and November 15th at 9:15.
