YouTube and Broadway Star Todrick Hall to Strut Into KINKY BOOTS This Fall

Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced today that Todrick Hall will join the Broadway company of Kinky Boots as 'Lola' in the Tony Award-winning musical, beginning November 1, 2016 through March 5, 2017.

Hall, an internationally known YouTube personality and Broadway actor who just finished a sold-out national tour of his show Straight Outta Oz, succeeds the Award-winning Alan Mingo, Jr. in Kinky Boots, now in its 4th smash year at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street).

"We're so thrilled to have Todrick join the company and get to show off his incredible talent to Broadway audiences," producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig said.

The announcement was made today on Hall's YouTube channel, which has more than 2.2 million subscribers. Watch the video!


Hall will serve as a guest judge on the upcoming season of "RuPaul's All Stars Drag Race." He has appeared on Broadway in shows like The Color Purple and Memphis, and rose to fame as a contestant on the 9th season of "American Idol," where he was a semi-finalist and garnered millions of fans. Since then, he has become an international personality, with millions of dedicated YouTube fans, and 655,000 Instagram followers (@todrick).

Kinky Boots tells the uplifting and heartwarming tale of Charlie Price, a young man reluctantly taking over his family's struggling shoe factory and looking for a fresh idea. Charlie meets and finds inspiration in Lola and together, they discover that it takes a good friend to make a great pair.

The winner of six 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a Tony Award-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell. The Grammy Award-winning Original Broadway Cast Recording of Kinky Bootsis available on Sony Masterworks Broadway.

In addition to the Broadway production of Kinky Boots, which is about to celebrate three years on Broadway, the show is currently touring the country on its First National Tour, playing an extended run in Toronto at the Royal Alexandra Theatre, and playing an award-winning run in the West End on September 15, 2015 at London's Adelphi Theatre. An Australian production is set to open in October 2016 at Her Majesty's Theatre in Melbourne.
