The search for the actor who will portray the title role in LINCOLN for the premiere season of the new theatrical experience at Indiana's Lincoln Amphitheatre, includes a modern twist.
"Of course we're holding the traditional series of auditions for the cast of LINCOLN," says Steve Wright, Lincoln Amphitheatre's executive producer. "We're also accepting video auditions through YouTube. We'd like this to be a fun contest open to everyone, but also an opportunity for actors to show us their best interpretation of Abraham Lincoln."
In honor of the search for an actor to play Mr. Lincoln, coupled with the national celebration for the 16th president's 200th birthday, Lincoln Amphitheatre invites anyone with a video camera to participate by posting their dramatic or gently humorous rendition of the Gettysburg Address to YouTube, then email the video's link to info@lincolnamphitheatre.com for review. Videos will then be posted on the amphitheatre's YouTube "channel" page.
The deadline for video submissions is Thursday, February 26. YouTube users may rate their favorite LINCOLN videos and the winner will be announced on March 5.
The Lincoln Amphitheatre YouTube channel may be found at https://www.youtube.com/lincolnamphitheatre.

The world premiere of LINCOLN will take place this summer on the very grounds where Abraham Lincoln grew up. Performed in a 1,500-seat, roofed amphitheatre, LINCOLN will leave audiences with a deep understanding of the role Indiana played in forging the character of America's 16th president. Lincoln Amphitheatre offers a "Lincoln experience" that includes an Amish-style meal, pre-show activities for children and adults, and theatre under the stars. Enhanced by multimedia projections and period music, the production of LINCOLN will give theatre-goers an insight into The Life of the man whose legacy continues to impact the future.
Opening night is scheduled for June 12; tickets are available online or by calling the box office. Lincoln Amphitheatre is 1,500-seat covered, outdoor amphitheatre located inside scenic Lincoln State Park in Lincoln City, Indiana.
