Gypsy, directed multiple Tony Award winner and author of the musical Arthur Laurents, has announced full casting for the production. Joining the previously announced Patti LuPone as "Rose" are co-stars Boyd Gaines as "Herbie" and Laura Benanti as "Louise;" also starring Leigh Ann Larkin as "Dainty June", Tony Yazbeck as "Tulsa", Marilyn Caskey as "Electra", Alison Fraser as "Tessie", and Lenora Nemetz as "Mazeppa"; with Bill Bateman as "Mr. Goldstone", Jim Bracchitta as "Uncle Jocko", Sami Gayle as "Baby June", Bill Raymond as "Pop", Brian Reddy as "Weber", and Emma Rowley as "Baby Louise".
The ensemble of Gypsy will feature Beckley Andrews, Nancy Renée Braun, Mindy Dougherty, Kyrian Friedenberg, Sarah Marie Hicks, Steve Konopelski, Matthew Lobenhofer, Nicole Mangi, Katie Micha, Matty Price, Andy Richardson, Jessica Rush, Alicia Sable, John Scacchetti, Geo Seery, Rider Quentin Stanton and Pearce Wegener.
Featuring a book by Arthur Laurents, with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, Gypsy opens on Broadway on Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street). Preview performances begin Monday, March 3, 2008. Bonnie Walker will reproduce Jerome Robbins original 1959 choreography.
Gypsy will feature scenic designs by James Youmans, costumes by Tony Award winner Martin Pakledinaz (Grease, Thoroughly Modern Millie), lighting by Tony Award winner Howell Binkley (Xanadu, Jersey Boys), hair by Tony Award winner Paul Huntley (Young Frankenstein, Grease) and sound design by Dan Moses Schreier (A Catered Affair, 110 in the Shade).
Tickets for Gypsy are on sale via an exclusive pre-sale to American Express cardholders now through Friday, January 25, 2008 and to the general public beginning Saturday, January 26, 2008 through Telecharge at (212) 239-6200 or www.telecharge.com. The St. James Theatre box office will open Monday, January 28, 2008. Tickets are $117.00 - $42.00.
Preview performances are Monday through Saturday at 8 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday at 2 p.m. There is no performance on Friday, March 28, 2008, however a matinee performance has been added on Sunday, March 30, 2008. Beginning March 31, performances will be Tuesday through Saturday at 8 p.m., Wednesday and Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 3 p.m.
