WritersBloc Presents World Premiere of 'No Entrance' 10/16

WritersBloc Productions will present the world premiere of NO ENTRANCE, written by Alec Gutherz. Peformances began Thursday, October 9, 2008 at 8PM at the Access Theater, 380 Broadway, 4th floor. The official opening will be on Thursday, October 16, 2008 at 8PM. Sue Lawless will direct.

NO ENTRANCE examines the consequences of the choices people make. Through a confluence of learned behavioral patterns, each character struggles with their own obligations, responsibilities and desires.  This struggle manifests itself in the concept of duty; the duty of a mother, a wife, a soldier, a Catholic, a husband, a sister, a son.  And only when this concept is challenged does the emotional core of each character become exposed.

The cast NO ENTRANCE features Rena Burger, Christopher Cole, Alison Edwards, Emily Loeb, Matthew Stapleton and Jacob Troy.

Alec Gutherz (Playwright, Producer) was born and raised in New York City. He is a co-founder of WritersBloc Productions.  Last year his one-act version of No Entrance was performed at The Bridge Showcase Theatre.  Two of his plays, Dad’s Day and Another One Darling were selected for the PlayGround Development Series at the Manhattan Theatre Source in 2006.  Alec graduated from McGill University in 2005 with a Bachelor of Commerce in Strategic Management and Organizational Behavior. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild.

Director Sue Lawless BIO Sue Lawless (Director) has directed on Broadway, The Five O'clock Girl; off –Broadway, The Rise Of David Levinsky, Cut the Ribbons, Body Shop, Potholes and In Gay Company for which she earned a Drama Desk Best Musical Director Nomination. Her career includes plays, musicals and operas at such prestigious theatres as Brooklyn Academy of Music, Goodspeed Opera House, Opera McGill, Walnut Street Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville,Cleveland Playhouse, George Street Playhouse and Papermill Playhouse and not excluding off off Broadway at such institutions as La Mama and the NYC Fringe Festivals. She currently is Secretary of the Stage Directors and Choreographers (SSDC) Executive Board and a very supportive board member of the SDC Foundation.

Sound and Set Designer is Jesse Edelstein, Lighting Designer is Thea Cooper, and Stage Manager is David Sheridan.

Performances of NO ENTRANCE are Thurs, Fri and Sat, at 8PM and Sundays at 5PM.
