SKYLINE, A MID-CENTURY MUSICAL will make its world premiere at FringeNYC in August of 2014. SKYLINE will be presented at Venue #13: Sheen Center -- THE LORETTO (18 Bleecker Street, at Elizabeth) in Lower Manhattan. The production will run August 10-24.
In 1962, New York is a city suspended between the 19th and 21st Centuries, and a battle is brewing between past and present, history and posterity, memory and the vision of the future. At the front lines of this battle stands beautiful, historic Pennsylvania Station: once a magnificent symbol of the city's future, now a neglected relic of its rapidly vanishing past. SKYLINE tells the story of the ordinary New Yorkers who fought to rescue this doomed landmark from destruction.
SKYLINE is both a heartfelt love letter to the city of New York and a cautionary tale for any city and any age in which the rage for the new threatens to sever our lifeline to the past.
With book and lyrics by Maureen FitzGerald and music by FitzGerald and Taylor Williams, SKYLINE's cast features Katie Bruestle, Peter Gosik, Katie Lee Hill, Adam Machart, Lisha McKoy, Peter Reardon, Joseph Spieldenner, Franca Vercelloni and Zachary Wobensmith. SKYLINE is directed by Jason Blitman.
Performances of SKYLINE run Sunday, August 1 at 5 pm; Saturday, August 16 at 9 pm; Thursday, August 21 at 9:30 pm; Saturday, August 23 at 4:45 pm and Sunday, August 24 at 2pm.
