BYKlyn Indoor Cycling Studio supports World Music Institute by declaring April 9-16, 2016 "World Music Week."
In celebration of this community partnership and World Music Institute's (WMI) recent office move to DUMBO, BYKlyn cycling classes throughout the week will include music by performers presented during WMI's 30th Anniversary Season and featured on WMI's Spotify channel.
World Music Week kicks off Saturday, April 9 at 1:00 p.m. when tabla players Sameer Gupta and Shiva Ghoshal of Brooklyn Raga Massive will perform live during BYKlyn's SWAG Saturday. The entertaining awareness-raising event will include the giveaway of tickets for upcoming WMI performances. At 2:00 p.m., Sameer and Shiva will play the warm-up songs for a cycling class that will raise funds for WMI.
World Music Institute is a nonprofit organization -- committed to presenting the finest in traditional and contemporary music and dance from around the world -- at venues in Brooklyn and Manhattan -- with the goal of promoting awareness of other cultures and their traditions."We are grateful to BYKlyn for creating this community initiative," says Gaby Sappington, Executive Director of World Music Institute. About BYKlyn Indoor Cycling -- BYKlyn is Brooklyn's own indoor cycling studio. They offer group indoor cycling classes for all levels-newbies to competitive triathletes. Their vibe is definitively Brooklyn-intense but low-key, diverse and a little gritty. Each month, they offer 2 all-donation community rides with 100% of proceeds going to support various Brooklyn charities. "We chose World Music Institute to welcome them to the borough" said Amy Glosser, founder and CEO of BYKlyn. "We wanted to help spread the word about the great work they do to share world music with Brooklyn and beyond. After all, indoor cycling is all about music and Brooklyn is all about diversity, so this collaboration brings it all together!" This initiative reflects WMI's commitment to building and nurturing community partnerships that provide value for the public while also supporting the organization's mission.
