Work-in-Progress STORAGE Set for Dixon Place Next Week

On Wednesday, August 10, Dixon Place will present STORAGE, a new comedy about rummaging through the past, and uncovering the tragedy and comedy of life.

STORAGE delves into the unlikely contents of an overflowing NYC storage unit, catapulting its two characters toward a nostalgic, zany, sometimes heartbreaking adventure through mental illness, social work, sideshows, show tunes, and 9/11.

Bronwyn, a cabaret artist and social worker in her sixties, has enlisted the help of Matt, an unemployed and frustrated gay man in his thirties, to sort through the strange and sentimental flotsam and jetsam of her Brooklyn storage facility. The pair struggle and disagree, and ultimately find genuine connection in this sweet, original one-act play.

Bronwyn Rucker is a writer/performer with a 30+ year theatre history. She is also palliative care licensed social worker at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.

Matt Rydell is a Special Education teacher and private tutor in Staten Island, NY. This is his first stage play.

Jay Rogers is an actor director with an extensive resume including Broadway, Off-Broadway Regional and Cabaret theatre.

After organic development & expansion, DP is now a leading professional, state-of-the-art facility for artistic expression. Covan received a NY Dance & Performance Award (a Bessie), two Obies, a BAXten Award & the NY Innovation Theater Foundation's Stewardship Award for service to the community. DP has also received CUNY's Edwin Booth Award, & the Alliance of NY State Arts Organization's Celebrate the Arts Award for outstanding contributions to NYC.
