BroadwayWorld is bringing you Words From the Wings, a new series of interviews that take fans behind the scenes of some of their favorite Broadway stars' backstage routines!
Today we're chatting with Tabitha Lawing, who is currently appearing in Days of Wine and Roses! Tabitha told us all about her backstage routines, must-haves, and more!
Check out her answers, along with photos taken by BroadwayWorld's Jennifer Broski, below!
What’s the first thing you do when you arrive to the theatre?
Take off all my stuff, like coats, hats, and scarves, and then get dressed for the show!
What’s the last thing you do before you go on stage?
Probably ask Anna (my guardian) if I can go yet. Then get set for the next scene!
What’s your must-have backstage snack?
Definitely Cheez-its. (I have a thing for orange food.)
Pre-show ritual that others may think is weird?
People may not think this is weird, but I chew "Tropical Twist" Trident gum on my way to the theater.
What are five must-haves in your dressing room?
A puzzle, card games, company, snacks, and pictures of my family and friends.
What’s your favorite moment from the show to watch from the wings?
"Evanesce (Reprise)". The music is so upbeat and fun, and Kelli and Brian are so fun to watch!
What has been your favorite backstage moment in your time with this show so far?
Dancing with Addie every day to the song "Are You Blue?" We have so many fun moments in that song!
Tabitha made her Broadway debut as Lila in Days of Wine and Roses. Most recently she was seen as Grady Girl 1 in The Atlanta Opera’s co-production of The Shining with the Alliance Theater. Other favorite roles include Riley in The Adventures of Our Lives So Far at Cape Fear Regional Theatre and The Child in the upcoming short film The Buoyancy of Apples from writer/director Tori Mills. Tabitha is from Georgia and is looking forward to seeing what it’s like to live in New York City!
