What’s the first thing you do when you arrive to the theatre?
The first thing I do when I get to the theatre is run lines or receive notes from the director.
What’s the last thing you do before you go on stage?
The last thing I do before I go on stage is check in with my scene partner and then have a brief solo dance party to the intro music.
What’s your must-have backstage snack?
My must have-backstage snack is KitKat. I’m not a big chocolate person but KitKat has been very satiating of late.
Pre-show ritual that others may think is weird?
My solo dance parties. Miriam is a joyful character and dancing to soca, dancehall, or Afro beats music help me channel her energy and shake out any nerves.
What are five must-haves in your dressing room?
My five dressing room must-haves are red zinger tea, Mypurmist, lip balm, AirPods, and mints.
What’s your favorite moment from the show to watch from the wings?
Im on stage for 92% of the show, so the only moment I get to watch from the wings is Aminata and Bea shit-talking the marriage. It always funny to hear the audiences reaction to their silly banter..
What has been your favorite backstage moment in your time with this show so far?
I really don’t spend much time backstage, but my favorite moment during tech rehearsals is the impromtu dance party that occurs when the sound team is toying with the music of the show.

During one sweltering summer day, love will blossom, dreams will flourish and secrets will be revealed. The uncertainty of their circumstances simmers below the surface of their lives and when it boils over, it forces this tight-knit community to confront what it means to be an outsider on the edge of the place they call home. This extraordinary new play is by the award winning Ghanaian-American playwright Jocelyn Bioh (School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play) and will be directed by Obie winner Whitney White (Our Dear Dead Drug Lord).
