Acclaimed novelist Jeanette Winterson as well as Pulitzer Prize-winning author Anne Tyler have been tapped to pen novelized explorations of the plays of William Shakespeare as part of the new Random House series The Hogarth Shakespeare.
Marking the 400th anniversary of the Bard's death, the Hogarth Shakespeare series kicks off in 2016 with Winterson's text, which will be based upon THE WINTER'S TALE, as well as Tyler's book, which will be reportedly taking a major cue from THE TAMING OF THE SHREW.
Additionally, Random House plans to line up other accredited authors such as these two notables to create future entries in the Shakespeare-inspired novel series, as well.
A representative from Hogarth commented to the BBC, "[The novels] will be true to the spirit of the original dramas and their popular appeal, while giving authors an exciting opportunity to reinvent these seminal works of English literature."
The new works will be available in digital and audio formats in addition to traditional paper-based text.
