Wingspan Arts announces that in 2008, for the first time ever, its Summer Conservatory will be merit-based and tuition-free for Middle School and High School students selected through an audition process.  The Summer Conservatory program will offer 70 scholarships (30 awarded for Middle School theater program, 30 for High School theater program and 10 for High School film program).  Application deadline is April 10, 2008. Information is available at www.wingspanarts.org.

After six seasons building the reputation of its Summer Conservatory as a preeminent theater and film training program and continuing to grow as an organization, Wingspan Arts has secured the necessary funding to offer this unique opportunity to Middle and High School students.

The enrollment procedure remains unchanged for the Elementary School Summer Conservatory.

Designed for students with a genuine desire to develop theatrical and filmmaking skills, Wingspan Arts Summer Conservatory offers performing arts programs conveniently located in Manhattan.  With three programs, covering 1st through 12th grade, Wingspan Arts has created a cohesive curriculum that will take students on a journey toward becoming an artist.  The youngest children, in writing their own musical, learn all aspects of performance and creation.  As students advance, they have the option to specialize in either theatre performance or filmmaking.  Working with some of the most gifted teaching artists and theatre professionals in New York City, Wingspan Conservatory students soar in challenging and rewarding programs.

"The benefits of working in a professional environment are immeasurable," says Wingspan Arts Conservatory Director Jessica Bashline.  "Students thrive on the energy around them, in rehearsal studios, theaters and from the professionals they work with.  Their performances elevate to match the work going on around them."

To be considered for Summer Conservatory 2008, students must submit an application form (found at www.wingspanarts.org) and a teacher recommendation to the Wingspan Arts offices (630 Ninth Avenue, Suite 410, New York, NY 10036) by April 10, 2008.
