Theatre district hotspot Cafe Edison, which is a part of the Edison Hotel, might soon be no more. According to Vanishing New York, the hotel will not renew the restaurant's lease and the cafe is looking to change locations. Manager Conrad Strohl told VNY: "They don't want us here."
The hotel also recently evicted both Rum House and Sofia's Italian Grill. Strohl revealed that the cafe will likely remain at its current location for another month at least.
Owner
Harry Edelstein passed in 2009, and the New York Times wrote at the time of his death: "The playwright
August Wilson wrote notes for three of his scripts on Cafe Edison napkins. [Neil] Simon's 2001 comedy, '45 Seconds From Broadway,' was a sentimental display of his affection for the restaurant. 'There is something magical about this place,' he said, sitting there in 2001."
