Actor Daniel T. Booth -- best known as downtown drag star Sweetie and set to co-star in Tarell Alvin McCraney's new play WIG OUT! beginning previews September 10 prior to its official press opening September 30 at The Vineyard Theatre (108 East 15th Street) -- walks the runway of the hit design reality series "Project Runway" in an all-drag episode first airing Wednesday, August 20 on Bravo.
Now in its fifth season, "Project Runway" will feature Sweetie in an episode starring some of New York City's most famous drag queens as clients to the fashion designers who are competing to win $100,000 to begin his or her own design line and other prizes.
Set nearly twenty years after Madonna's "Vogue" topped music charts and "Paris Is Burning" filled movie theaters, WIG OUT! is a fierce and intoxicating new play which tells of two competing drag houses, and the loves, loyalties, and dreams within each that draw their members together and apart.
Daniel T. Booth co-stars in WIG OUT! as Serena, Mother of the House of Di'abolique.
Joining him in the cast are Jas Anderson, Joshua Cruz, Sean Patrick Doyle, McKenzie Frye, Nathan Lee Graham, Angela Grovey, Andre Holland, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and Clifton Oliver.
WIG OUT! is directed by Tina Landau, who directed The Vineyard Theatre's acclaimed productions of Mary Rose and DREAM TRUE, and most recently Tracy Letts' SUPERIOR DONUTS at Steppenwolf.
The new play has scenic design by James Schuette; costume design by Toni-Leslie James; lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski; sound design by Robert Kaplowitz; and hair, wig and make-up design by Wendy Parson.
There will be modified seating for the Vineyard's production of WIG OUT!. The stage will be reconfigured to create the world of the show, including a runway that stretches into the audience and on-stage seating.
Performances of WIG OUT! are set to run from September 10 through October 19. Performance schedule is Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday through Saturday at 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.
