Wicked Tour Extends Toronto Engagement to Dec. 31

The Wicked tour will be performing at the Canon Theatre in Toronto longer than originally planned.

The smash musical, originally slated for a Toronto engagement through November 26th, will run through December 31st.  It began at the Canon on October 6th.

The Wicked tour currently stars Shoshana Bean/> as Elphaba, Megan Hilty/> as Glinda, Alma Cuervo/> as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as the Wizard, Cliffton Hall as Fiyero, K. Todd Freeman as Dr. Dillamond, Josh Lamon/> as Boq, and Jennifer Waldman/> as Nessarose.

Wicked has been sold out at virtually every performance on Broadway, since having its official opening at the Gershwin Theatre on October 30, 2003. 

Based on the novel by />/>/>Gregory Maguire/>, the show has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz/> and a book by Winnie Holzman.  Directed by />/>/>Joe Mantello/>, with musical staging by />/>/>Wayne Cilento/>, Wicked is also currently being presented on Broadway, on a national tour, and in a separate, open-ended engagement at Chicago's Ford Center for the Performing Arts, Oriental Theatre.  The London production opened on September 27 and is currently playing to capacity crowds at the Apollo Victoria Theatre.

New casting for the roles of Elphaba and Glinda will be announced shortly after Thansksgiving.  Both Bean and Hilty leave the tour after the Toronto engagement.
