Wicked will celebrate its second anniversary on Broadway this Sunday, October 30, with the "Wicked Day" Block Party, to be held outside the Gershwin Theatre (222 W.51st St.) from 11 AM to 2 PM. Admission is free to the event, which will feature games, food and refreshments, and the finals of the Z100 "Be Wicked" Singing Contest. Sponsored by Z100, ELLEgirl and Rocawear, the Block Party will take place rain or shine.

The semi-finals of the Z100 "Be Wicked" Singing Contest, hosted by Macy's and sponsored by ELLEgirl, Rocawear, Macy's, Decca Records and the Renaissance Times Square Hotel, are being held at various locations in the tri-state area. The winners of those events will then participate in the finals in New York City (on "Wicked Day," this Sunday, October 30). The finals will be judged by stars Shoshana Bean and Megan Hilty, Miss USA Chelsea Cooley,Wicked Wicked casting director Bernie Telsey and another very special (and as yet, top-secret) guest. The Grand Prize will be "The Ultimate Wicked Party Package" in which the winner plus 3 guests will receive free tickets to the smash musical and to Behind The Emerald Curtain, a cast-led behind-the-scenes look at Wicked, hotel accommodations, show merchandise, a feature in ELLEgirl Magazine, an autographed copy of Wicked: The Grimmerie and a Wicked gold record (commemorating the cast recording going "Gold" this month).

Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz. "Long before Dorothy drops in, two other girls meet in the Land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. Wicked tells the story of their remarkable odyssey, how these two unlikely friends grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch."

Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, the show boasts music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz (Godspell, Pippin) and a book by Winnie Holzman ("My So-Called Life"). The show is directed by Tony award winner Joe Mantello (Assassins, Take Me Out) with musical staging by Tony Award-winner Wayne Cilento (Aida, The Who's Tommy). Wicked features sets by Tony Award-winner Eugene Lee, costumes by Tony Award-winner Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner and sound design by Tony Meola.

Wicked opened on Broadway (where it continues to be the top-grossing show) on October 30th, 2003 with Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth as the respective green and pink witches. Shoshana Bean, Megan Hilty, Ben Vereen and Rue McClanahan currently star in the musical on Broadway, while Stephanie J. Block and Kendra Kassebaum headline a national tour that is currently circling the country. The hit Chicago production stars Ana Gasteyer and Kate Reinders (who is currently out due to a broken foot and whose role as Glinda is being played by understudy Sarah Jane Everman).
