The musical White Christmas, directed by Walter Bobbie, has been a sensation in major cities nationwide and is now possibly aiming for a Broadway run this winter.
Producer
Kevin McCollum is in talks with his colleagues and unions to work out a way financially mount the production. He tells Variety, ""I'd love to have it come in. The timing is right for it to happen if everyone gets on board. But it's an economic Rubik's cube right now because I don't have the rules in place that could make it work. No one's getting rich on this show, but it's providing work."
He goes on to say that he hopes to present the show at the Marquis Theatre, where
Cry-Baby is currently running until 6/22.
The production was first mounted in San Francisco in 2004. The music is by Irving Berlin with a book by
David Ives and
Paul Blake. The choreography is by
Randy Skinner. The musical features popular songs such as "Blue Skies," "The Best Thing Happen While You're Dancing," "Count Your Blessings," "I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm," "Sisters," "How Deep is the Ocean," and "I Love a Piano".
"White Christmas tells the story of two World War II veterans turned show biz stars. They fall in love with a sister act while putting on a show to try to save their former commander's inn in picturesque Vermont." describe press notes.
