Westchester's Best Singer Competition Announces Winners

White Plains Performing Arts Center, the professional, not-for-profit theatre located in downtown White Plains, has announced the results of WESTCHESTER'S BEST SINGER competition which was held at the theatre on Saturday, August 9, 2008.

The adult winner is Caitlin H. Krueger, 25, born in Sleepy Hollow and raised in Cortlandt Manor.  Caitlin graduated from Mercy College (Dobbs Ferry) with honors, and is finishing her Masters at The John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. Caitlin currently resides in New Rochelle and is an Account Executive at Westchester Weddings Magazine and the exclusive vocalist with the DJ Company, A List Entertainment.

The youth winner is Taylor Clay, 12, an 8th grade student at Highlands Middle School in White Plains. Taylor began her theatrical training at the age of 6 at the Westchester Conservatory of Music and now at 12, her love for theatre has gone unabated. She has been featured in numerous musicals, most recently The Wiz and Seussical, and has had the honor of singing at Carnegie Hall.

The competition was open to county residents in two categories:  Kids 10-16 and Adults 17+. Judges were Lauren Cregor, professional singer/songwriter; Thomas Jamerson, vocal faculty at Music Conservatory of Westchester and Jack W. Batman, Executive Producer of White Plains Performing Arts Center.  

The two winners of WESTCHESTER'S BEST SINGER will receive the following:

Age 10-16 an appearance in the WPPAC holiday production of Oliver!

3 voice lessons at the Music Conservatory of Westchester

Age 17+ will sing National Anthem at White Plains New Year's Eve Spectacular

Other competitions this year will be WESTCHESTER'S BEST DANCER (January 2009) and WESTCHESTER'S BEST COMIC (May/June 2009).

WESTCHESTER'S BEST competitions are sponsored by Applebee's, People's United Bank and the White Plains Business Improvement District (BID).

White Plains Performing Arts Center is located on the third level of City Center at the corner of Main and Mamaroneck in downtown White Plains, with ample parking just steps from the theatre.
