Second Stage Theatre will present the New York premiere of Terrence McNally's Some Men, directed by Trip Cullman (Swimming in the Shallows, Dog Sees God).
Some Men will begin previews on March 2 and officially open on Monday, March 26 at 6:45pm.
"While two men exchange wedding vows, guests at the ceremony chart their own loves, lives, and the degrees of liberation they've achieved - or not - over the years. At once a collage and a celebration, with equal parts wit and heart, Terrence McNally's latest play, Some Men, is set against the events that shaped the past century," state Second Stage notes.
The company of Some Men will include: Don Amendolia (Stepping Out, My One and Only), Kelly AuCoin (Julius Caesar, Copenhagen tour), Romain Frugé (The Full Monty, Titanic), David Greenspan (She Stoops to Comedy at Playwrights Horizons, Dead Mother, or Shirley Not All in Vain at the Public), Jesse Hooker (Off-Broadway: Drug Buddy, The Rainmaker at Arena Stage), Michael McElroy (Tony-nominee for Big River, Rent, The Wild Party), Pedro Pascal (Based on a Totally True Story, Beauty of the Father), Randy Redd (Parade, Blood Brothers), and Frederick Weller (Seascape, The Little Foxes, Glengarry Glen Ross).
Some Men will have scenic design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Linda Cho, lighting design by Kevin Adams, and sound design by John Gromada.
McNally has won four Tony Awards, most recently for Ragtime (music and lyrics by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens). He won the Tony in 1996 for his play Master Class; the 1995 Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for Best Play as well as the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award for Best American Play for Love! Valour! Compassion!, and the 1993 Tony for his book of the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman (music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb). His plays include The Stendahl Syndrome, Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams, A Perfect Ganesh, Lips Together Teeth Apart, The Lisbon Traviata, Corpus Christi, Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune, It's Only a Play, Bad Habits, The Ritz, and the book for the musicals The Full Monty, A Man of No Importance, Chita Rivera: A Dancer's Life, and The Rink.
