Baby Phat OUT, the new KLS Kimora Lee Simmons IN.
Kimora Lee Simmons has made a lot of changes in the past few years, most noteably leaving Kellwood Co.'s Phat Fashions, where she served as president and creative director, and becoming the president and creative director of the membership-based e-commerce site JustFab.
In her next major fashion move, Simmons has unveiled KLS Kimora Lee Simmons, a new collection featuring sleek, tailored, ready-to-wear pieces with an understated sexiness.
"It's different for me. It's, like, grown up," Simmons told WWD. "There's a subtlety to the sexiness. It's not overt," said Simmons commenting a sharp tailored coat.
The collection is produced in New York with prices ranging from $500 for a top to $2,400 for a coat. The silhouettes may not ones you haven't seen before but they are a huge change for Simmons and are representative of her re-branding.
"I guess you would call it putting out a new image, but I think it's more of an evolution," she says. "I'm not the same woman now. KLS isn't catering to a teenage audience or a young party girl. I'm a serious businesswoman."
