The Vineyard Theatre will celebrate its upcoming 25th anniversary season
with Anne Washburn's The Internationalist, a revival of J.M. Barrie's classic Mary Rose, and the return of its popular Lab Production Series, featuring a new work by Nicky Silver (who will also perform).

Additionally, Vineyard plans a year-long celebration of its anniversary with an ambitious series of events to be announced.

Vineyard's 25th Anniversary Season follows the recent success of Jeff Bowen and Hunter Bell's hit new musical [title of show] which will have an 8-week return-engagement at the Vineyard starting July 14. In 2004, Vineyard Theatre won a Best Musical Tony Award for Avenue Q.

Details of the Vineyard's upcoming season follow:

--The Internationalist
Previews start October 24; opening TBA

"Anne Washburn's The Internationalist is a riveting new play that follows a young American businessman's unforgettable experiences living and working in a country where he does not speak the language," state press notes on the show, which will receive its Off-Broadway premiere. Ken Rus Schmoll directs. Cast and creative team to be announced.

An earlier version was produced Off-Off Broadway by 13P. Washburn's previous plays include The Ladies and Apparition.

--Mary Rose
January/February, 2007

"In early 2007, Vineyard presents the first major revival of J.M. Barrie's astonishing romantic drama Mary Rose -- a lyrical, funny and stirring story of a girl who might just be a ghost -- from the author of Peter Pan...First performed in 1920, this delicate and haunting play became a major obsession and inspiration for Alfred Hitchcock, and has not been seen in New York for more than 50 years."

Tina Landau, whose current production of A Midsummer Night's Dream is currently running at Papermill Playhouse, directs. Cast and creative team to be announced.

--Lab Production
The Agony and the Agony, Spring 2007

"Nicky Silver's The Agony and the Agony marks the return of the Vineyard's innovative Lab Production Series -- special developmental productions open to Vineyard Theatre members only. Written by and featuring the playwright best known for his plays Beautiful Child, Pterodactyls, Raised in Captivity and more, the play is a hilarious and moving story of one desperate writer's ultimate revenge."

Terry Kinney, who most recently directed Vineyard productions of Silver's Beautiful Child and Gina Gionfriddo's After Ashley, directs. Cast and creative team to be announced.

Past works that have been part of the Lab Production Series include: Tina Landau and Ricky Ian Gordon's Dream True; Polly Pen and Laurence Klavan's Bed and Sofa; and Silver's Pterodactyls.

A fourth production for spring 2007 is to be announced.

Concluding Vineyard Theatre's 24th season is Stopping Traffic, a new play written and performed by Mary Pat Gleason, directed by Lonny Price, beginning May 24. This new play follows the Off-Broadway premiere [title of show] which, after three successful extensions, returns to the Vineyard for a limited, eight-week commercial run beginning July 14.
