Wantagh High Schools Wins Z100's 'Rent' Contest

Z100, New York's Number One Hit Music Station and Musicians on Call has announced that Wantagh High School is the winner of its Get Active Public Service Campaign with "Rent On Broadway."

Students will be treated to a private concert in their school auditorium latter this month hosted by Danielle Monaro of Z100's Elvis Duran and the Morning Zoo. The entire cast of RENT will be on hand to perform some of the memorable songs from the hit musical including: "Glory," "Out Tonight," "Without You," "Take Me Or Leave Me," "What You Own," "I'll Cover You," and "Season of Love."

The Get Active with Z100 and Musicians on Call contest took place this past fall over a six week period from September-October 2006. Tri-state area teens were encouraged to get their schools to donate as many full length, new or gently used CD's towards Musicians on Call's CD Pharmacies Program. Wantagh High School collected the largest number of CD's – 4,989 CD's, representing more than 20% of the totally number collected of 24,616.

All of the collected CD's will go to Musicians on Call, a non profit organization founded in 1999 with the mission of bringing live and recorded music to the bedsides of people in healthcare facilities. At no fee, the program provides hospitals with complete CD libraries and players for patient use. Musicians on Call currently has 120 CD Pharmacies: 82 throughout New York, 18 in New Jersey, 9 in Philadelphia, 6 in Louisiana, 2 in Nashville, 1 in Boston, 1 in Baltimore and 1 in Ohio.
