Tony Award-nominee Barbara Walsh will star in Normal, a new musical presented by the acclaimed off-Broadway Transport Group; the show will run from October 20th to November 12th.

Directed by Artistic Direction Jack Cummings III (who is also married to Walsh), the musical will boast book and lyrics by Yvonne Adrian and Cheryl Stern (performer in I Love You, You're Perfect Now Change) and music by Tom Kochan (music for Psycho Beach Party, Smelling a Rat).  Normal will also feature Erin Leigh Peck (Dance of the Vampires, Grease), Toni DiBuono (Wonderful Town, The Boys from Syracuse) and Shannon Polly (New York debut) in its cast.

Normal, which won the 2002 Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Award, is about a family who appears picture-perfect but who deals with the daughter's life-threatening eating disorder behind closed doors.  The Transport Group is known for tackling musicals with challenging and uncoventional themes.  Cummings received a Drama Desk nomination last season for The Audience, which featured members of a Broadway show's audience singing their thoughts while watching a musical.  The company also presented the New York premiere of Michael John LaChiusa's musical triptych First Lady Suite.  With three short musicals about Jackie Kennedy, Mamie Eisenhower and Eleanor Roosevelt, it was nominated for two Drama Desk Awards in 2004, including Outstanding Revival of a Musical.

Walsh currently scowls as the villainous Velma Von Tussle in Hairspray. Nominated for a 1992 Tony Award for playing Trina in Falsettos, she has also appeared on Broadway in Big, Blood Brothers and Rock 'N' Roll! The First 5,000 Years.  Her off-Broadway credits include Stars in Your Eyes and Birds of Paradise.
