Judy Kaye will be available for lunch as part of the starry silent auction that will be featured in
"A Life in the Theatre--Onstage and Off," a tribute to Anne Jackson and Eli Wallach. The event will take place on June 19th at Symphony Space.
One of the auction's prizes will be lunch with the Tony Award-winning actress. Bids will be taken at "A Tribute to
Anne Jackson &
Eli Wallach: A Life in the Theatre," and will only be taken from the audience at the tribute.
'I promise. No meat pies," Kaye stated, and she joins co-star
Michael Cerveris in the silent auction line-up, who will also be available as a lunch companion. Kaye will be filling in for
Patti LuPone as
Sweeney Todd's Mrs. Lovett from June 20th through 25th (and again while LuPone is in
Chicago performing at Ravinia in
Gypsy this August).
Kaye (who is renowned for her vocal range) is a Tony-winner for her performance as Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera. Kaye previously received a Tony nomination for Mamma Mia!, in which she originated the role of Rosie on Broadway. She received a Theatre World Award for On the Twentieth Century, in which she replaced Madeline Kahn as the tempestuous Lily Garland. Other Broadway credits include Ragtime (in which she played Emma Goldman), Oh, Brother! and Grease. In addition to numerous studio cast albums, she has released two solo CDs--"Diva by Diva" and "Songs for the Silver Screen."
